You put it away. Piilo remembers where.

Piilo is a private iPhone and iPad app that remembers where you put things — every room, shelf, drawer and box — and finds them again with the whole path.

The pitch

Most people don’t need a spreadsheet of everything they own. They need to know where the passport went. Piilo is built around that one question. You photograph or name a thing, say where you put it — “top drawer in the hallway” — and Piilo remembers. Weeks later, one search answers with the whole path: Home › Hallway › Top Drawer. Boxes sit inside boxes inside rooms inside places, so Piilo works as well for a move, a storage unit or a collection as for a kitchen drawer. There’s no account and no advertising, and the library stays on the person’s own device unless they turn on iCloud.

What Piilo does

  • One search, the whole path. Search answers with the thing and every place around it, so you know which room, which cupboard and which box to open.
  • Boxes inside boxes. Places, Rooms, Boxes and Objects nest as deeply as a real home does, and a Map shows everything inside a place at once.
  • Put away in seconds. Add a thing with a photo, a name, your voice or the share sheet, then say where it went in your own words.
  • Decide later. Not sure where something lives yet? It waits in Unplaced until you are.
  • Labels that open the box. Print a QR label or write an NFC tag; scan the label or tap the tag, and Piilo opens that box.
  • Lists that pack a real bag. Check what you need this time, pack it, and put it back afterwards.
  • Shared, if you want. Optional iCloud sync keeps your own devices in step, and Household Sharing lets the people you invite see and edit the same library.

Privacy

Piilo has no account, no advertising and no analytics. The library is stored on the person’s device; iCloud sync and Household Sharing are optional and use their own Apple Account, and the developer never receives the library. Features that need an outside service — product lookups from Open Food Facts, a YouTube video someone attached to an Object — reach it only when they’re used. The details are in the privacy policy.

About the developer

Piilo is made by Simon Weaver, an independent developer. He built it because he wanted an easy, enjoyable way to keep track of his own things, and the apps he had tried felt dull and needlessly complicated. Piilo is in public beta on TestFlight.
